Double-Take: ITIL

| | Comments (0)

A lot of time we talk about process in relation to software development. Because software development is such a hard nut to crack, most of the "big" process work has been done around that. But the entire IT organization can be looked at as a large machine as well, and a British standard that is gaining some momentum seeks to do just that.

The ITIL, or IT Infrastructure Library, is a source of information that looks at the entire IT organization. We've included it as part of the MAT because some of our customers may not be concentrating on development as much as the entire IT area.
ITIL currently comprises eight 'sets': Service Support; Service Delivery; Planning to Implement Service Management; Security Management; ICT Infrastructure Management; The Business Perspective; Applications Management; Software Asset Management.
We hope to have some sample ITIL assessments up on the shameless commerce site soon, as this looks like a great area for an organization to get started with process quality assessment.

So I created a micro-site to help folks learn how to log-in correctly, and to share various funny pictures and such that folks might like to share with their friends. It's called (appropriately enough) facebook login help
