Let the Lawsuits Begin

| | Comments (0)

Looks like an 85-year-old grandmother from New York is suing Rockstar Entertainment for the mature content that was inside "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" Boy -- talk about seeing this one coming.

She's suing on behalf of all consumers nationwide. Gee -- thanks, grandma. She's just the first one out of the gate. Next up will be the lawsuits between the parties involved -- you can't tell me that the CEO of Rockstar knew that material was in the game. That means he was fooled by somebody, perhaps in his own team. In addition, all of the companies that partnered with Rockstar are probably going berserko as well. Is Rockstar or it's parent corporation, Take Two Interactive Software, a publicly-traded company? If so, I bet you they have hyped the release of GTA-SA to the press and shareholders. Look for a shareholder suit at some point.
People have lost tens of millions of dollars because of this content. We can have all the discussions in the world about the the mature content of games, the rating system, hacks, sneaking in Easter eggs, etc., but this was a disaster. Depending on how deep Take Two's pockets are, anybody with a joystick and a TV set will probably be involved before it is all over with.

Recently I created a list of books that hackers recommend to each other -- what are the books super hackers use to help guide them form their own startups and make millions? hn-books might be a site you'd like to check out.
On the low-end of the spectrum, I realized that a lot of people have problems logging into Facebook, of all things. So I created a micro-site to help folks learn how to log-in correctly, and to share various funny pictures and such that folks might like to share with their friends. It's called (appropriately enough) facebook login help
