Welcome CNet Readers!

Thanks to CNet for mentioning my blog on your site today. One of the first rules of PR is "any publicity is a good thing". I appreciate the link.

The story was that Microsoft is going to pay bloggers, and that people in the blogging world were lining up to the trough. But Microsoft is known for tough hiring practices. The blog entry was that I've already been approached by Microsoft on a couple occasions, and it was nothing to write home about. I notice they are getting a bad rap in the staffing industry for being arrogant to deal with.
It's time I came clean/ First off, Bill Gates -- big guy, if you're reading this, I hate to dissapoint you. I know you're probably hovering by your computer, checkbook in hand, waiting to lick a stamp and send me a big check. And I could use the money too, no doubt about it. But my real business is selling an independent assessment tool. It wouldn't be much good for my customers if I were, er, bought out, would it? The whole point of the blog, the conversation with technical users, the assesmsnet tool -- it's all about NOT plugging a technology or company.
So if nominated, I will not run. If chosen, I will not participate. And if paid, I will not cash the check. Thanks a lot, but I'll pass for now. But thanks for the link, CNet!

On the low-end of the spectrum, I realized that a lot of people have problems logging into Facebook, of all things. So I created a micro-site to help folks learn how to log-in correctly, and to share various funny pictures and such that folks might like to share with their friends. It's called (appropriately enough) facebook login help
