WTF? How About ISP Idiots?

| | Comments (0)

So this morning my frame relay went out at the office. I waited an hour, and then called to submit a trouble ticket. While I'm calling, they decided to call me to tell me it was down! And it gets worse.

We do some checks, and the guy says he'll call me back. A half an hour later he calls back "we pulled the plug due to non-payment"
Well, this is news to me, so I go through our A/P system and look up the bill. Sure enough, we're several weeks late. I dig out the last invoice. There is no mention of discontinuation of service. I had told our bookkeeper to hold the bills for a while, and without getting a discontinuation notice, he thought it was one that could wait.
The technician gave me a number to call, and I guess I will soon. But right now I'm really upset that these people did not give me any notice. I realize I was in the wrong -- but you would expect some kind of notice, wouldn't you?
So instead of simmering, I went to our satellite backup. Tomorrow I guess I'll open the can of worms with the ISP. What a bunch of maroons.

Recently I created a list of books that hackers recommend to each other -- what are the books super hackers use to help guide them form their own startups and make millions? hn-books might be a site you'd like to check out.
On the low-end of the spectrum, I realized that a lot of people have problems logging into Facebook, of all things. So I created a micro-site to help folks learn how to log-in correctly, and to share various funny pictures and such that folks might like to share with their friends. It's called (appropriately enough) facebook login help
