Checking out the Movies

| | Comments (0)

My wife and I are going out this weekend for our anniversary. We both love the movies, and I try to keep up with what is good and what is not-so-good.

I used to go to certain web sites and read a reviewer's opinion before I went, but any more I just go to Rotten Tomatoes. This information is about a million times more useful to me than what, say, Roger Ebert thinks. Why? Because Rotten Tomatoes takes a survey of many reviewers, then tabulates the score for the reader on a scale from 1-100. Yes, there are some movies with low scores that I like, but I've never went to a high-scoring movie that I thought was a dog. Overall, many people do a better job than just one person, even if that person is well-informed and trusted in the industry. If you understand why that works, then you understand what the MAT does at your organization that nobody else is doing. People are our most valuable asset -- an asset that is only beginning to be utilized.
