Cairns Pictures
The picture parade continues.
We're in Cairns (pronounced "cans") and are getting ready to go snorkeling and diving tomorrow. So far we've taken a really cool tour of the city and visited the Cairns Night Zoo, where we had a blast. Here are some shots.

The night zoo at Cairns was awesome
We saw 40 or 50 river crocodiles all waiting for their next meal

The botanical gardens were incredible
Who knew I'd enjoy something like a garden so much?

There's something about tropical plants and animals.
The colors are bold, vibrant, and just "pop out" of the surrounding green

Even the plants kill things here.
These picture plants lure insects into them where they are trapped and eaten

As Jack was looking somewhere else, an innocent-looking
plant slowly went for the throat

This kookaburra bird was hanging out at one of the tourist spots
If he was like everybody else, he'd charge ten bucks a picture

The Cairns skyline
This was a hazy day due to all the dust storms the continent has been experiencing lately
Low population, jungles, diving, english-speaking culture and friendly businesses
Who could ask for anything better?

Fruit bats hanging out in the trees waiting for nightfall.
These guys were huge!

The kids didn't pay enough attention to the signs, unfortunately

This beehive ginger plant makes itself look just like a beehive,
including making little bees that appear to be landing and taking off

Cairns isn't much of a beach for an oceanside resort.
The jungle and the mountains come right up to the ocean here
Daniel these are great pictures, loved the beehive plant and the crocodiles. Looks like a great trip for your family.
Thanks Bob.
I must have taken 40 shots of those crocs using various forms of lighting. If I remember correctly, this shot was one I considered "bad" because of the light from the left. But I think it was the best of the lot.
Glad you're enjoying the photos. I hope to keep them coming.
