Advances in Aviation
While the public's attention has been on space travel and other science, NASA and a few companies have been implementing new technology. For instance, what do you get when you cross micro-jets, E-Bay, glass cockpits, and five thousand rural airports? A new point-to-point business model for aviation, that's what.
I've been following several of these initiatives over the last few years, including Highway In The Sky, which is a neat concept. Now that we're deploying synthetic vision in our cockpits, the time is quickly coming where flying will be more video game than stick-and-rudder.
Will every house have a plane in the garage? Hardly. But the price of business travel might come down some, and who knows? It might actually become more convenient as well. Let's hope.
